OKAY! Fuck we have been on a crazy surf bender! Portugal to scotland and back!! Some mental slabs! Few questions i found in the inbox, will answer on here in main post so everyone can benefit!

Lido beach strike yesterday! Was hilariously crowded but some fun waves!
Just returned from a hectic surf bender at barra de La Cruz, puerto to barra, wow actually super burnt out from this trip.
THINGS i saw every single person in that line up hurting from? Pro or beginner?
Hydration, all may have been drinking water but without a hydration supp i think its not enough! Hours of paddle/running and over heating, water is as warm as the beach, do not burn yourself out, quicker sessions, food and hydration between and you will out surf everyone!
Same thing as puerto, crowd thins out when the wind so much as puffs, be ready for that and aurf between crowds your gonna catch 2x the waves
On top of that everyone had โOut the backโ syndrome, going and fighting the current to stay out the back and not catching waves, or catching a wave and going over the falls cause its way to steep for their level.
I sat on the inside of the crowd quite a bit and just watched them fall over and over again and got way more waves than them, i take the ones they fell on, the insiders they missed, and anything else that slipped through, missing only the first 30ft of the wave, doing six turns still, so watch that inside and be ready to turn on a dime when someone falls! Otherwise spend your session paddle in current and trying to make a death drop lol!
Puerto Tips
Paddle out gets easier the farther to the right you go if your looking at ocean!
Be careful where you try to go in to shore and attempt to ride a wave fully to shore, twice i tried to go in, fell halfway and was sucked back out to the lineup or into a set wave
The rip currents are real deal if your unsure paddle down where you entered the water and go in there!
Watched Grant Twig Baker have to do 3 attempts to GO IN lol! No paddle out but just get to beach!
When the Wind comes up, the crowd goes in and there are still mental waves but keep this on down low lol! Ivan and i surfed alone!
If your looking towards land or the town and see big clouds back there, prepare for an afternoon/evening session, the winds usually switch offshore again and you can score a window of insane conditions alone!
Cafecito has coffee at 6am lol!
Mexico Surf Trip essentials ive taken note of so far
#1 bring a hooded rash guard! Sun is psycho and it protected me so much so that i had out surfed many
#2 bring a good hydrator supplement!
#3 bring extra Leashes, place stretches leashes and breaks them like no other!
#sunscreen, so much sunscreen, thick oily zinc! I use the Protekt face stick, served me well for 3 5 hour sessions back to back!
Tighten your leash strings!!
Well 7โ5 went quite well!! The only problem and disadvantage i felt was the people with larger boards were able to paddle out and behind me then roll in before i could get up ahaha! So got snaked quite a bit more than usual but damn did it feel good on the face!
Fins Small, why? Because larger boards have more rail in the water, there for you can get away with smaller fins, and keep performance high,
7โ5 refined paddilac, why ride a smaller board at a place like puerto where every one is on 10ft boards? PERFORMANCE, so you i can pump in the barrel front side and back side, i can duck dive, i just need to sit roughly 25ft inside of everyone, thats the difference! I am comfortable taking off later i sacrifice and early entry for more control on the face of the wave!
Leashes i tend to keep just longer than the board itself
10ft board? 12ft leash
8ft board? 10ft leash

Ties leash string close to board to it doesnt tombstone against you and rip thru the board!
So much of the barrel is often missed due to a large bottom turn, a smaller board allows you to knife earlier getting more barrel time!
Cons? Less paddle power is really the only one!
