Inviting some movement back into the legs after yesterday’s heavy leg day was toughhh, but we got it done!
Doing this trains your body and mind to not be heavy and flat footed, as a soccer player we gotta be on our toes. No better way to do that than being consistent with our touches!

It’s not the destination it’s the journey:
As fantastic as all these stretches and workouts might be. They’re equivalent to nothing if you can’t be consistent with them. I’ve spent years doing the absolute basics like passing, kicking, punting and throwing. All to make a perfect action in a time of need. It mentally gets easier as your physicality grows stronger.
Consistency is key 🔑

Grip socks and regular socks:
Many athletes know the extreme benefits to using grip socks on the field, but many also don’t know that in order to use them, you have to cut the game socks you’ll be required to use.
If you ever find yourself slipping inside your cleats, grab a pair of grip socks and thank me later. 😊

Spent the past 2 days getting ready for a huge Luau themed party and let’s just say it’s time to hit the sauna.
Spent the whole afternoon doing outdoor activities, spent time with friends and family, and ate nothing but chicken and steak.
High protein foods and good spirits is what i’m all about 🥩💪🏼😇

I was starting to feel a little tight so I decided why not bust out a little stretch. Luckily our bodies don’t require us to be at the gym in order to stretch, it can be done anywhere and anytime. Stretching is honestly such an underrated function and works wonders for the body. We use our lower body constantly, so don’t forget to treat it right every once in a while.

Tennis ball tactics:
My high school coach would always break these out for us to practice with. We’d try our best to juggle 3-5 times, but would ultimately just be a complete mess.
However, once we went back to normal soccer balls, our touch was better than it’s ever been.
In conclusion, practice on a smaller ball to minimize your room for error.

Row machines are perfect for burning up or burning out a workout:
They’re great full body exercises that can get the heart rate up for a good sweat. Especially for soccer players, this machine targets about 65% of the lower body power, and 35% of your upper body. This is a great way for building stability in the lower body. ⚽️

Warmup sequence before & after practice:
Quadriceps stretch, Hamstring stretch, Butterfly stretch, Toe touches, Knee to chest, High knees, Butt kicks, etc.
These are the primary stretches targeted for improving movement and preventing injury.

Volley practice:
Luckily as a college goalkeeper, we had 4 bags of balls totaling at about 50 soccer balls to practice with in 1 round.
Unfortunately that’s not the case here, so we’ll need to practice accurately and consistently. Find a hard wall preferably with no windows, then practice driving a side volley right a little above head height to certain points of the wall. This simulates passing to a teammate, and builds muscle memory for the field.

If you feel good, you’ll play good.
Keeping your body fully nourished and at a healthy state will make it so much easier to focus on what really matters: Coordination, ability and consistency.

Every player has strengths and weaknesses in their gameplay, but if you can’t make it through the full 90 minute game, it becomes hard for a coach to truly analyze your value.
Eat clean, train properly, results will follow.
