A figure visited my dream last night. I couldn’t tell if it was male or female. It carried a sack of jars, which were filled with different colors flowing like water. In one hand it held a jar of white light, and in the other a jar of black fog. Each jar had a different piece of knowledge, or wisdom. The figure spoke to me and said, “I will only give you three choices this night, and three more the next, until you’ve exhausted every jar in the sack. If I’m convinced you’ve learned all you need to learn, then I will move on from you and only return when needed.
So I chose three jars. One red, one purple, and the one with black fog.

“Open the red jar,” the figure said “and learn what it contains.”
I opened the red jar and watched the glow fade away. Inside the jar was a letter that said:

“You have lived through unspeakable things in your lifetime. And you survived each one. You’re emotional and mental fortitude was tested and you passed. Now let go of your past life and move on to the next stage. You have won, and there’s nowhere left to go but forward. Stop going backward. You have new experiences and lessons to learn.

As I finished reading the letter, it and the jar turned to dust.

I looked up at the figure as it slowly pointed to the next jar, the purple one.

Inside this jar was a letter that read:

“You’re trust was broken in an unforgivable way by one who is no longer existent in your story. Let go of that betrayal. Trust again, for those who are close to, do not wish to hurt you or manipulate you. Let them be free from your doubt so they can be close to you and prove they are worthy of trust. They have done no wrong.

As the jar and it’s contents turned to dust, the figure spoke, “The last jar you chose, will be hard for you to accept. But to know the truth of yourself is to grow as a person. We are all flawed. A mixture of good and evil. And you will learn of some of your evils in this jar. “

I hesitated for a moment before finally opening the last jar. The fog rolled out, blacker than night to reveal the letter. It read:

“You have hurt many people. Some were family, some were friends, and some you don’t know. It is understood that you lied to protect yourself in some situations, and lied to deflect blame in others. But you lies and half-truths have caught up to you and some are yet to be revealed. Do not lie to those you hold dear to you now. Give them your honesty and your respect. Stop looking for others to take the blame for your inability to move on and let people in. Do not trap people to make yourself feel better. YOI ARE THE ONE HURTING YOURSELF NOW and there is no one else to blame.”

The jar and letter turned to dust and the figure faded away. Once again, I was alone in my own mind.
