Too many dinosaurs. ππ»
Just wanted to share with you guys my favorite Amazon store, I am slowly buying....all of these dinosaurs.. lol. So far Ive got the Parasaur, Allosaurus, Stego, Spino, T-rex, Pterodactyl, Baryonyx, Dimetron, Giga, Carnotosaurus, Plesiosaurus, Raptor Jesus, Ankylosaurus, Brachiosaurus, annnnd Triceratops, whoooo!
https://www.amazon.com/stores…
What do you feel like the scariest dinosaur would have been, face to face?
Imagine if every single dinosaur during the whole of the Mesozoic Era (the age of the dinosaurs) were all alive at the same time and roaming the earth. Which MF would you be hard pressed to keep far away from?
I was thinking about this, and my first thought was the T-Rex.. but then I thought about it.. and realized.. do lions generally go after mice? I mean maybe..if the mouse happens to run across them.. but the lion doesnt go out HUNTING them. Big predator, big prey. And were just puny humans with noodle arms that taste like sadness and anxiety. SO.. which of these monsters would have hunted us down?
First of all - my vote is on raptors. If youve seen one of my earlier posts, you know that the actual velociraptors were pretty tiny, but their cousins, the Utahraptors were a considerable size and could easily run down its same sized but very under-fanged and taloned weakling prey.
Second.. um...terrorbirds? I dont fucks with birds. Too many horror movies, and lets be honest - Ostriches are fucking terrorists.. Imagine them bigger.. and ... more clawed.. Helllz naw
Third - This is my last vote and then I want you guys to drop what you think would be the scariest MF out there.. ok hear me out... Argentinosauraus. This guy, basically a bronto on steroids, is the biggest sauropod ever found. and while its not carnivorous - just imagine yourself standing next to one.. (Better yet Ill find yall a picture) I mean.. an elephant isnt carnivorous but imagine an elephant stampeding you... Ima go ahead and take the next jumanjii turn. Like... this guy gives zero fucks. He will crush you, and your mom, and your house, and your little shelter you dug at the beginning of this hypothetical terror apocalypse all while laughing on his merry way.
Alright guys, drop what would be the scariest to YOU and why. No wrong answers!
Therizinosaurus
When: 72-66 million years ago (Late Cretaceous)
Where: Asia
Is it a dinosaur? Is it a bird? Or some clawed nightmare out of a Quentin Tarantino slasher movie? Scientists originally were smoking something pretty sweet when they found this massive dino, and it got labeled as a .. .get this...seat turtle.. and it used its giant claws to....swimmy around the ocean and.. harvested aquatic vegetation. Idunooo bout yall but I dont really understand how this guy could be related to a sea turtle. Anyway, fast forward to the real, non crack smoking scientists who ended up classifying the Therin as part of the Theropod group, yes, cousins to the T-rex, velociraptor, etc, most of whom were meat eaters.
Ok lets get back to describing this "giraffe of its time" clownfish looking dino. First of all, it had the biggest claws of any animal that has ever lived. Ever. These Edward Scissor hands reached up to THREE FEET, and its name appropriately means "scythe lizard". It also stood 33 feet tall, and weighed close to 5 tons, giving Big Bird a run for his money. (yes yes terrible joke). And to top it all off, this MF ate PLANTS! His claws were sadly not used to hunt down and slice apart other dinos, but instead to collect vegetation.. like a koala?
And although there is no fossil data to prove it, it is widely believed that the Therin was very feathered, based on its veggie diet, and other animals in its family group at the time. Soo, were looking at a slightly smaller than a T-rex sized ...bird looking thing...with MASSIVE claws. 10/10 not scary at all.
I know I bring up my silly video game all the time, but in ARK Survival - the Therizinosaurus is one of my all time favorite mounts, because legit nothing can touch it. Its the same size as all of the biggest dinos, and can shred them to bits in seconds. On the flip side though.. you dont want to be riding your pack of raptors next to their nests by accident... It never ends well for anyone involved. -___-
Hope you guys have a great week!
- Ashley

Sarcosuchus: Big ass crocodile
When: Middle Cretaceous
Where: Africa (The Sahara), and parts of South America
Size: Up to 40ft
Alright, so we did a post on the big ass snake, so its only fitting we do its reptilian counterpart, the super croc Sarcosuchus, meaning "flesh crocodile", yum. Lets go back - 100 million years ago. Northern Africa is a lush, tropical, green oasis, crisscrossed by numerous rivers, filled to the brim with plus sized dinos like the largest meat eater ever - Spinosaurus, and crocs so big that Steve Erwin would get hard just thinking about them. (Too much? this is still OF right?) But for real.. imagine 40 foot danger logs just fucking around in all the drinkable water in Africa. Lets take a moment of silence for all the herbivores. We lost a lot of good men.
Ooookay, so Im just going to drop some cool shit that I know about Sarcos, bullet style, because.. lists are lyfe.
- Sarco was covered head to tail in osteoderms. Tf is that? Its the armored plates that cover modern day crocs... except.. on crocs today, there are small breaks in between the plates..and on Sarcosuchus, it was continuous.. Limited flexibility much?
- The snout of the Sarco ended in a "bulla", I know I know, lots of weird new words today. To this day, scientists still dont understand what the bulla, or bulbous depression, on the end of their noses was for. There are theories that it was used to attract a mate, used in combat, or used to communicate over long distances.
- Contrary to what you would think, the Sarco was likely to have a mostly pescatarian diet.. yep..fish. Because the snout was very long and thin, similar to todays Gharials, its thought that this guy munched on fish instead of wrangling huge dinos into the water.
- The eyes of Sarcosuchus rolled up and down, not left to right..which indicates that this animal spent most of its time submerged or partially submerged.. meaning that the hunting methods of the crocodile line havent changed a bit in millions of years. If it aint broke dont fix it.
- Full grown adults weighed up to 10 TONS. Scientists contribute this to the time that they lived.. because they lived alongside massive dinosaurs, instead of after the extinction. This guy had to be able to hold his own in the water he shared with Spinosaurus. Imagine witnessing a fight between those two.. just..
- Ok last one, Sarcosuchus kept growing throughout its entire life, unlike modern crocs, which reach their full adult size in roughly ten years. Yall remember Lake Placid?
I picked the Sarcosuchus for this post because they are the most well known prehistoric croc, however, I wanted to mention some other notable contenders.
1. Deinosuchus, also known as "terrible crocodile", was estimated to be roughly the same size as Sarcosuchus...however, this guy had a snout that was much more blunt, which indicates that instead of eating fish, it absolutely ate bigger prey like the dinosaurs, making it..in my opinion, much more dangerous. But also Im a small puny human so it wouldnt really matter either way...
2. Purussaurus - Okay before today I actually didnt know shit about this guy, but um.. this one was surprisingly a caiman, estimated to be the same size as the previous two crocs as well, and another specimen with a blunt snout. TBH, if there was a fight between the three of them, the Sarco would definitely lose just because of its jaw type.
Here is a great website that goes over some of the different prehistoric crocs:

Titanoboa: Big ass snake
When: Late Paleocene
Where: Columbia
Size: Up to 50.. yes mf-ing fifty feet
Okay⦠so this big ass nope rope was creepy crawling around the Amazon area roughly 60 million years ago - about ten milli after the late Cretaceous dinosaur extinction event. Meteors ammmirite?
Since this guy didnβt coexist with the dinosaurs, a pretty important question is, what did he eat? And more importantlyβ¦ what ate him? Itβs thought that titanoboa preyed on massive and I mean fucking MASSIVE crocs and turtles - weighing up to 300lbs, and fish the size of grown men. Guys I scoured the Google and I seriously couldnβt find an answer on anything that preyed on this toothy noodle except maybe the crocs which were relatively close in size.
There are some scientist that believe that Titanoboa could still be alive today, as much of the Amazon rain forest has yet to be discovered. (Fuckin βAnacondaβ)
A few years ago, the Smithsonian put out an incredible documentary about this giant snake, where one very bored man even made a life size model of this big bitch. (Itβs absolutely terrifying seeing these full grown humans standing next to it..likeβ¦ Iβd def peeee my pants a lil..) Plus, be sure to check out the episode where they theoretically pair a titanoboa against a t-rexy boy. Very cool stuff!

Choose tonights DinoFANS topic! Big ass croc or big ass snake??
Someone sent me this this morning and I honestly just think itβs one of the coolest photographs Iβve seen. (Def want a print to hang up!) This is the delivery of a dinosaur.. looks like some sort of sauropod, maybe an apatosaurus, wing delivered to the Museum of Science in 1984 over the city of Boston. Can you imagine looking up and seeing this?? Have a great weekend guys!
